Air Canada Further Extends Aeroplan Elite Status and Provides Additional Flexibility for All Members
"Loyalty is a two-way street, and we understand and appreciate why so many of your travel plans are interrupted this year. For that reason, we are automatically extending Aeroplan Elite Status for an additional year—through to the end of 2022," said Mark Nasr, Senior Vice President, Products, Marketing and eCommerce at Air Canada. "These changes are some of the many ways we're recognizing our members and demonstrating our commitment to welcoming them back onboard, whenever it's the right time for them to travel again."
This is the second year Air Canada has extended the status of its Aeroplan Elite members. In order to provide greater ease and flexibility, changes for Aeroplan Elite Status members include:
Automatic extension of 2021 Aeroplan Elite Status
All Aeroplan Elite Status for 2021 will automatically be extended through to the end of 2022.
Priority Reward Vouchers also extended
Air Canada is also extending the validity of all unused Priority Reward vouchers issued in 2020 by one full year, making them valid for use until October 2022.
Elite Status Qualification Jumpstart for 2022
For Aeroplan members who earn any Elite Status through their 2021 flight activity, the Status Qualifying Miles, Segments, and Dollars earned in 2021 will be honoured the next year, jumpstarting their status qualification in the years to come.
These improvements come in addition to other changes for all Aeroplan members:
Change or cancel Flight Rewards, free of charge
Aeroplan flight rewards booked through April 30, 2021 (for travel through April 2022) can be changed or cancelled free of charge, at any time. Members who opt to cancel will receive all of their Aeroplan points back in their account, plus a full refund of any associated taxes, fees and surcharges on the unused value of their travel.
Temporary pause to expiration of Aeroplan points
We have further paused expiry of Aeroplan points until January 31, 2022. This means that between now and January 30, 2022, any points which would have expired will not. Effective January 31, 2022, our recently improved expiration policy will apply, meaning that points will expire if an eligible transaction has not been completed prior to this date.

Trust the Cow!
I am optimistic given the way it currently looks in the gifts/eup/tr tabs. Gifts (for SE’s anyway) are reset at a level past the 60k/90k threshold. The other two are set at 0. Could mean absolutely nothing but I choose to believe!

For those with large rollovers in prior years, when the rollover happens do you get all of the benefits associated with the AQM being rolled over - so if you had 150,000 miles being rolled over would you get all of the eUpgrades for hitting 60K,80K,100K,140K as well as the 150K gift?

There has been one other year with a CC rollover (last year), and in that case, yes, I got all the benefits.

Status Downgrade for 2022
Hi All,
Have any international members noticed a status downgrade due to not meeting SQD requirements in 2021? Thought this strange as AC mentioned status would be rolled over and lower requalification would apply from the 2022 earning year onwards.

You're correct that the elimination of the SQD discount only takes effect in 2022.

Sooo… Something happened last night…
My account has a post for “Rollover SQM Adhoc activity” with no numbers associated with it and my account now has a new amount of AQM and a larger number of rollover miles. The problem is the amount makes no sense. In 2021 I earned just over 99,000 SQM and 7,000 AQD but they seem to have rolled over 56,000 SQM and no AQD.
Maybe they are doing it in strange pieces. I really think Aeroplan should have someone in a comms role (not just marketing) who has an accountability to members to let them know what is going on. Without Flyertalk most of us would have absolutely no idea.
Thinking about this more… This is likely the CC rollover as I would have only “earned” 50K with my spend in 2021 (had the miles for 75K but the AQD for 50K). Taking into account the 7,500 rollover miles that were already in my account, this would get me very close to the miles that were credited.
