At the risk of aggravating the TMI situation someone has already referenced:

Spending too much time on the toilet causes pressure on your rectum and anus.

Most professionals recommend spending no more time on the toilet than it takes to pass a stool. Studies have shown that the average bowel movement takes 12 seconds. Sometimes it does take longer, however, so at maximum, you should not spend more than 10 minutes on the toilet

Read all about it, but preferably not on the toilet:

Squeezing muffin bits out is easy and smooth. Squeezing 2 million of them out takes time. #2MMuffintop

No one has addressed the need for a microprocessor to be involved in this activity yet. Perhaps AC needs in install a countdown clock in each Lav. When it reaches 0 a pleasure and reassuring voice should encourage the passenger to wrap things up and move on. Mood lighting could also be used through the process.

Digital signal could also be used to display commercials for AMEX and vacations in more colorful provinces. The possibilities are endless.

Thanks for the article. Currently passing some San Diego tacos, and I will definitely use up the 10 minutes.

This is actually not a bad idea. The only thing that concerns me is that, on an ULH flight, if everyone needs to be allocated 10m (450 pax x 10m = 75h of bathroom time), AC might need a lot more lavs on the plane.

Maybe this could be used as an argument against AC's HD planes in court. That the current lav layout makes it impossible to use in flight with comfort and certainty.
