typical load factors on Ac126 and AC033?

Hi Everyone,

I currently fly YUL - YHM (or YYZ) every week or so. I’ll be moving out west for a while. My company pays for Y fare

Took a look at the flights I’d probably be taking, and they’re AC 126 (YVR-YYZ) and AC033 (YYZ-YVR)

Does anyone know how often these planes are full? I don’t mind Y for an hour flight, but for 5 hours.. I’d probably spring for PE if I wanted to be comfortable. But if the back of the plane isn’t really full, then I can save some money...

I did 126, 128, and 182 (and prior to that when it was the old numbering 156 and 162) often last year (100+ flights)... J, O, and Y, on different days of the week and when they were a mix of narrow and widebodies. In general, from what I experienced, they tend to be full at the start or end of the workweek and I VDB'd a couple times because of that.

There are very rarely empty seats on this route. The airline manages the capacity and maximizes revenue with every lever they have. Equally, if you are not 75K or 100K, and you want to use e-upgrades, you pretty much need to pay for a Latitude Fare.

AC33 is usually very full, in all three cabins, as the flight goes onward to SYD.

As @yyznomad mentioned, 126, 128 depends on the day of the week. Based on my limited experience, 126, 128 usually have a few empty J/PY seats mid week, buy Y seems to be full all the time.

Another thing you may consider is that, AC126/128 usually lands much earlier than scheduled. the gate to gate time is usually under 4 hours. So Y may be survivable, I did it once in the preferred seat when AC156 was operated by A320.

I am flying both this week and one thing I noticed was that even though both have a good amount of revenue tickets available for sale, AC033 has R0 space for upgrades while AC126 has R5 so if you are looking to upgrade you may not have as much luck on AC33. My first world issue is I have enough credits left to upgrade 1 of the flights only....but the decision as to which one to upgrade might be made for me if there continues to be no space on AC33!

Agree about lack of AC033 upgrade space in general. Dunno if there are too many SEs on that route or it's a spillover effect from PAX connecting to SYD.

Often I can get the upgrade on AC129, but that's usually my last resort backstop for misconnects onto AC033. Another reason I'm glad my travel via YYZ is decreasing.

AC033

Thank goodness you didn't say 118 and 033. You would be a competitor on my go to route .

I have flown on 033 quite a few times this year (maybe 6). Love getting in a full day of work in Toronto and then being able to get home for bed in Vancouver.

I use flight passes and have always had a complimentary upgrade to business class (knock on wood). I would assume this means that the business class is usually not that full of paid fares (at least on the YYZ to YVR portion of the flight). My upgrade occurs about 3-4 days before the flight.

One thing about 033 is that I experience a delay (usually within 30 minutes) most of the time. I fly during the back end of the week (Thursday or Friday).

The only pattern I've noticed with YYZ-YVR and vice versa is that the first few morning flights YYZ => YVR don't always seem to pack up 100%. Everything else, space seems scarce. But folks who actually fly this route often probably have better insights than I.

Just as a snapshot, here's what ExpertFlyer says re availability on these routes for tomorrow (Friday, 28 Sept) at the moment. Of course, it's only one day, and a Friday at that, so take it with a grain of salt.

Expect this flight to be full, I rarely have an empty seat next to me in Y on YVR-YYZ flights.

Someone posted recently YVR-YYZ route for AC being their highest earning route, nearly half a billion / yr
