Good morning,

I've ran into what I would consider to be a strange situation and would like to see if somebody can explain it to me.

Here is a routing on matrix:

Dec 26th: YOW - YYZ - YWG (AC451 / AC265) in A bucket- CA$222.75

On Expert Flyer : AC451 A9 / AC265 A2

From Google flights I can get redirected to the Air Canada booking page. It shows Economy (A) and the correct price (the price shown on matrix). I can enter my credit card number and then it tells me "At this time we cannot complete your purchase, please call reservations".

Now, if I go to expert flyer and look at the segments together, I see A0 for both segments.

Can somebody explain why searching for segments separately reveals quite different numbers for the same fare buckets?

Also, do you think that I will have any luck getting the A fare bucket by calling in?

It's different because it's how RM manages their pricing and availability. Ie, they are willing to sell A fares on each segments separated, but not from the O&D you want.

Unless it displays on the AC website as is when trying to book it, I doubt AC will do anything to match it. And I doubt using google flights or ITA Matrix as reference will help your case either.

At this point on Expertflyer, for Dec 26th when you search for the route as YOW to YWG, it gives this:

AC 451
J5 C5 D5 Z4 P4 R3 Y9 B9 M9 U9 H9 Q9 V9 W9 G9 S5 T0 L0 A0 K0

AC 265
J5 C5 D5 Z4 P4 R7 Y9 B9 M9 U9 H9 Q9 V9 W9 G9 S5 T0 L0 A0 K0

So if you search the routes individually, as others said, there is different availability.

Thanks. I can see the difference now. I just did not know what @SparseFlyer told me.

I assumed that fare buckets were just per flight, I had no idea about RM.
