Hot towels, complete chilled meal, bar, coffee, liqueurs. It was a heck of a lot of service on a 1:20 flight.
Wasn't it also on the L-1011s?

Correct.

International business had been called executive first forever, way before the pods. Other posters are wrong. Nothing to do with the pods.

I believe the name Executive First coincided with the removal of First Class just as Continental had done with the removal of their First and the branding of Business First. I believe the first evolution into International Business Class came with the L1011-500's (Config 12F/24C/178Y). "J" was originally "C" and branded as AC Intercontinental Class.

Correct. I have lots of old BPs stating Executive First from 747 flights.

I flew to ORD regularly for committee work and loved that Chicago class while it lasted. Nothing like a hot breakfast in Y washed down with a Mimosa or straight "Champagne"...

This article covers all "Jumbo's" but I thought it worth sharing nonetheless.

Interesting article...I spent many enjoyable flights on GL/GM/GN. Some in the cockpit.

I recall some AC 747's were Combi's. Not specifically mentioned in the article.
I also thought CP had only two 744, entered service circa 1990~91 on the YVR-HKG route, almost sold to AA before they even entered service.

All three AC-ordered 747-400s were Combis (properly 747-400M).

According to Planspotters, the 4 CP 744's were delivered between Dec 1990 and April 1995. AC only kept them a few years after the merger, the last being sold in 2005.

Yeah I did some searches too. Apparently 4 ordered but only took delivery of 3, one was sold to Varig.

Those 744 were used almost exclusively on CP's pacific routes to NRT, HKG, BKK and MNL. I recall flight 4 and 8 were combined to a DC-10 at YVR to YYZ with immigration clearance at YYZ.

I believe I flew on a CP 744 YVR-HNL-SYD back in November of 1992. The trip even earned me some kind of status, Canadian Plus Presidents Club. Unfortunately I didn't ever use said status, and it expired before I took any further flights with CP.

Believe they were swapped out 1 for 1 with P.I.A. for DC10-30's.
