CALGARY, April 2 /CNW/ - On May 18, 2003, Zip Air Inc. will expand its route network by adding daily, non-stop service to Saskatoon from Vancouver and Winnipeg. To celebrate this expansion, ZIP is offering introductory prices on these and several other routes. Summer travel just got more affordable.

Fares on ZIP's new daily service from Saskatoon begin as low as $65 to Winnipeg and $95 to Vancouver each way. To take advantage of these introductory fares, travellers must book between April 2nd and April 10th, 2003 for travel between May 18 and June 19, 2003. Seven day advance purchase is required.

ZIP's expansion to Saskatoon will be celebrated with festivities at the Saskatoon John G. Deifenbaker International Airport on Sunday, May 18th.

On May 4, ZIP is also adding twice-daily, non-stop service between Vancouver and Winnipeg, with fares starting as low as $99 each way. To benefit from this introductory fare, travellers must book between April 2nd and April 10th, 2003 for travel between May 4th and June 19th, 2003. Seven day advance ticket purchase is required.

Does that mean there will be a corresponding reduction in mainline service on these routes?

Yes. Those flights will replace specific mainline flights but there will still be a couple of AC operated flights on those particular routes.

All service into YXE and YQR, with the exception of the YYZ flights, was already on AC Jazz.

This Zip expansion displaces Jazz flights, not AC mainline flights.

Which in itself is a nice indictment of Uncle Miltie and his branding fiasco: Tango, Jazz, Zip and AC mainline, all serving the same route in the space of a few months?
