Such that it is actually searchable text - one of the important changes to the Aeroplan program in 2019 for Super Elites:

New for Air Canada Altitude Super Elite 100K members: Complimentary changes and refunds
Beginning July 15, 2019, Air Canada Super Elite 100K members will no longer be charged a fee when they request a change to their Flight Reward booking. Additionally, these members will also no longer be charged a fee to refund their bookings. These fee waivers will apply to all bookings, including those made prior to the new policy coming into effect.

Just book YYZ-YUL online and call to change it to a mini rtw for free.

This must have been raised in the thread but couldn't find it - does the aeroplan fee waiver for SE apply to all bookings from the SE's AP account, even if it is not the SE travelling?

Confirmed. Just took advantage of the new policy for a change to a pair of tickets for my parents.

World's biggest airlines racked up $35B in ancillary revenue from things like bag fees last year

Air Canada among 10 best collectors of additional revenue in global airline ranking

CBC News · Posted: Jul 24, 2019 12:34 PM ET Last Updated: 42 minutes ago

QUOTES (re Air Canada):

"Canada's biggest airline, Air Canada, ranked tenth on the list, taking in $1,452,733,488 in ancillary revenue last year. But that figure isn't just nickel-and dime fees that fliers pay directly for things like checked bags, fuel surcharges and other irritants.

Loyalty Programs

Like many airlines, Air Canada participates in a loyalty program, Aeroplan. Those plans make money for airlines because the programs effectively buy tickets from the airlines in exchange for seats, and then resell those seats to credit card partners and retailers who offer those seats as consumer enticements.

.....
Air Canada, meanwhile, booked more than half a billion dollars from Aeroplan, but that works out to roughly $11.22 per passenger.

Considering the amount of loyalty program money Air Canada seems to have left on the table, it's no wonder that the airline recently bought out Aeroplan from the company that owned it, and announced plans to revamp it into something entirely Air Canada-specific soon."

I notice that this article makes reference to QF that generates a fairly high add-on revenue per pax from their affinity credit cards.

While it may be a matter of market dominance, or simply too many CC options up here, I doubt AC has quite the same degree of penetration for their affinity cards.

Super Elite's watch out... when you cancel a reservation, it now goes into a queue to be refunded, and can apparently now take 2-3 weeks to receive your miles back.

So we're losing our status in the new program ?
I've just received my requalification email and it says it stays until new program is launched.

Technically speaking, some of the benefits and requirements may change, so there could be slight differences that they don't want to commit to 19 months before your new status will expire.

But no, you won't lose your status.

However, may I request you post the contents of the email (obviously with any personal information removed), since I don't think we've seen this yet.

(new account can't post link directly)

The message is kinda clear that we will lose it once the new program kicks in next year.

This is talking about Aeroplan status (Silver/Black/Diamond), which we all knew would be going away. Altitude status will remain mostly unchanged, and will persist through the new program.

I'm sure I've been doing it wrong, but I don't know that I've ever gotten a single benefit out of my AE Diamond status.

I re-qual'd a couple months ago and didn't receive any email though. Strange.

Change fee reductions were the only benefit I used.

Lower change fee on rewards and maybe phone booking fees is pretty much it. Fairly minimal.

Agreed. That's about it. Nothing to go too crazy over.

As evidence, I haven't seen too many people wandering onto AC flights wearing "I'm Diamond and You're Not!" t-shirts.

When I re-qualified as AE Diamond a few moments ago I got this email. It refers to "later in 2020"...
