Aeroplan redemption taxes: AC vs UA

Looking at YYC-ATL, outbound via IAH partly on AC or UA, return is via DEN on all UA metal. Two options for outbound:

AC-IAH-UA: 58 mins at IAH: $171.74 in fees

UA-IAH-UA: 50 mins at IAH: $81.31

IAH-ATL is on the same UA flight. ATL-DEN-YYC on UA for both options.

Clear choice is UA, with less fees and an A320 instead of an AC CR7. Sure, will need a goalie helmet, but still cheaper.

Are you asking a question or making a statement?

Even if paid AC, this is another thread along the same theme. I could keep looking?

Judging by the OP's choice of punctuation, I'd say the latter. And it's a fair statement, and another indication that AC is often not the best value for your travel dollar, even if a Canadian resident.

Don't forget that YYC-IAH is 4 hours in a CRA or CR9. Not exactly the most comfortable. UA seems to have ceded the market to their hubs in YYC. I don't get why we don't have YYC-ORD or YYC-DEN but UA runs mainline on those routes.

I doubt it was forgotten, seeing as how that was mentioned in the OP...

I don't follow. Do you mean AC has ceded service to the UA hubs to UA?

As for service to DEN and ORD, depends. Sometimes DEN is CR7s or even CR2s. ORD is sometimes an E75. SFO is also a mix of mainline and express.

The only US3 hub that has consistent mainline service is IAH. AA to DFW is now an E75. DL is CR7/CR9 to SEA and SLC and a mix of CR7/9, E70 and 319/320 to MSP.

Perhaps feeder routes for United?
