Aeroplan in the running for a 2003 OAG Award as Best Frequent Flyer Program

Some news:

Aeroplan is in the running for a 2003 OAG Award as Best Frequent Flyer Program. For the second consecutive year, Aeroplan joins British Airways Executive Club, Continental Airlines OnePass, Lufthansas Miles & More and Southwest Airlines Rapid Rewards as a nominee for the 2003 Official Airline Guide (OAG) Award as Best Frequent Flyer Program. The OAG is the worlds leading source of flight schedule information. Awards will be presented on April 10, 2003 in London, England.

It would be interesting to see how many 'votes' AC received if it were placed at the bottom of the drop down voting list, rather than at the top.

After seeing the voting interface, I suggest many click through and accidentally vote for AC without really thinking.

In view of what folks are saying about their program in the CO forum, I would suggest that the nominators are not users of the programs.

I find that AC is still much better than CO. CO has really sunk very low in recent times... It seems although AC's Aeroplan has dropped, other have dropped even more...

As long as one person in a company subscribes to OAG, every person in that company gets a vote.

How the heck does OAG arrive at this shortlist? I find this unbelievable.

Their methodology is completely secret, and therefore therefore their results are completely suspect.

BTW, on the voting forms, OAG specifies one geographic area as "North America and Canada".

Not sure what that means, exactly...

I think they meant "North America and Northern North America".

I'm not so sure. I think they meant "North America and the North Pole" or perhaps "North America and Greenland." But whatever they meant, I don't think it speaks well for them, particularly since they are allegedly in the travel business.
