New Partner Guide arrives: "It's a world of offers"

Received my February statement today [cut-off date was the 9th] and it included both the YOU newsletter and the promised partner guide. Since mine is for SuperElite members, it will be different for Elites and Prestiges, so don't count on all these same offers.

HOTELS

Only elite status offer is from HYATT. Register in their GOLD PASSPORT program and make four stays, and get quadruple Aeroplan Miles for these stays, plus upgrade to Diamond.

For STARWOOD, there is a 50% discount of full published, rack rates. It is unclear if this is a one-time, or continuing, offer.

CROWNE PLAZA's PASSPORT TO PRIVILEGE has returned after last year's absence. There is a web link to various coupons, including upgrades to Club Level rooms.

FAIRMONT are offering 2K bonus Aeroplan miles for stays at three or more different properties within each quarter: March to May; June to August, September to November; and December to February.

BEST WESTERN is offering 1K bonus Aeroplan miles after two stays at their properties everywhere but Europe. Also, a 1200-point Gold Crown Free Room award night. [Must establish a GOLD CROWN CLUB membership for these.]

CAR RENTAL FIRMS

ALAMO offers double Aeroplan miles and up to 15% discount on rentals of 3-days or more.

AVIS offers double Aeroplan miles on 3-day weekend and 5-day rentals, plus rate discounts.

BUDGET also offers double Aeroplan miles on 3-day weekend and 5-day rentals, plus $5 per day discount on all Preferred Rate rentals, $10 discount on premium and luxury vehicles.

HERTZ is offering 1,000 Aeroplan miles per rental, or a One-Class upgrade.

NATIONAL is another double Aeroplan miler on minimum 2-day rentals with a Saturday night keep, or a two class upgrade.

THRIFTY offers 250 bonus Aeroplan miles for 2-day weekend rentals, 500 bonus miles for 5-day rentals, and space-available upgrade to Luxury class.

FINANCIAL SERVICES

15K for taking an Aeromortgage, up to 20K for Diners Gold card.

RETAIL SERVICES

Lots of these, including Aeroplan miles with flower orders from FLORAWORLD [900 bonus miles over regular 300 Aeroplan miles] and FTD.COM [200 bonus Aeroplan miles plus 10 miles for every US$ spent.

25% discount at ROOTS and 20% at FRUITS AND PASSION shops.

That's about the sum of it. It will be interesting to see what Elites and Prestiges are offered.

And remember Diamond is the highest level at Hyatt. So not a bad offer.

Now, if only there were a few more HYATTs in Canada... I used to "live" in the Regency Club of the old Montreal Hyatt -- ongoing consulting project for two years -- back in the early 80s, then they pulled out of Canada and my status plummeted year after year. You're right, this is a pretty good deal, and there are some reasonable weekend rates at both the Vancouver and Calgary properties.

FWIW, checked with Gold Passport this am - when you sign up (at least under the SE promotion) you have 3 months to complete your initial 4 stays.

As I'm more interested in the level than the miles, could anyone advise the Elite (2 stay) promotion code and I'd give that a go...

BTW it is for new members, so er...you may have to have a slight memory lapse if you're an existing member
