AC.com showing BA flight - status miles?

When looking at flights on May 11 from CPT-YWG, AirCanada.com is showing CPT-LHR-YYZ-YWG withe CPT-LHR on BA. I assume that I would not earn status miles, or would I? How does this work when booking via AC?

No AC status miles on the OneWorld segment. You'll need a OW FF account (e.g. AA, BA, etc.) and will accrue miles there.

AC should really be clear about this on their website. It is misleading.

I wouldn't agree there is anything misleading; the booking process doesn't suggest that Aeroplan points are earned on all (or any, for that matter) bookings and segments. AC (and many other airlines) have interline ticketing agreements with dozens of carriers, booking on AC and earning Aeroplan miles are two different things. When and how many miles you earn is based on many factors that it is up to the passenger to determine what best meets their priorities, preferences and budget.

I think misleading and unclear are slightly different concepts. The information is all there if you pay attention. Yes, you have to click through to the detailed T&C and so on, but it's there.

That being said, AC could definitely be clearer, when showing results that include non-AC flights, on what the mileage accumulation would be, e.g. by showing what mileage is earned on each segment right on the page (I think UA does that). So I would agree with jnswinnipeg that they don't make it clear.

when you click the fare type/class (i.e. Economy Latitude B), it will show it only apply to the AC flights on top and state for the BA flight to refer to the BA web site at the bottom of the page.

Why? It is very clear which airline allows you to collect points. Interline ticket agreements make it a lot easier for pax and take away a lot of problems, plus usually save time and money.
