AC Interlining to British Airways in LHR - experience

Looking at a flight that goes YYC-LHR-JNB.

YYC-LHR is on AC
8 hour wait in LHR
LHR-JNB is on BA

Any experience on interlining and doing the connection? I assume luggage can be checked right through with no issues?

Cheers
Eddie

Interested to hear how it goes ( if you go AC then BA to jnb). SAA is a bit worn these days.

Had no problems with interlining YYZ-LHR-CPT (AC to BA, then BA to AC on the return) two summers ago. I was pleasantly surprised.

All flights on one ticket? Or are these separate tickets?
