This thread was originally started regarding the re-configuration and re-designation of Air Canada's legacy CRAs to CR9s. That project was completed in early 2018.

AC currently has five CR9s that were previously owned by SkyWest and in service with Delta. These are (fin/registration):
  • 780 / C-FIJZ
  • 781 / C-FJZN
  • 782 / C-FOJZ
  • 783 / C-FRJA
  • 784 / C-GJAN

These aircraft are still configured with the Delta interiors, have no IFE, and may or may not have working WiFi. AC has not published any details regarding the re-configuration of these aircraft to match the existing CR9 fleet.

I asked on FB about ovens, and they said they weren't going to do hot food until every fin had the oven, to prevent catering nightmares.

Can you comment on the meal?

Chicken or beef. Both were cold plates.

IFE - same system, new system, or no system?

Did you notice any additional closet space? Closets on the 705's often seem to get filled with roller bags quickly due to the small bins.

The closet up front looks a little larger and thee bins are a bit larger. Today was a full flight and there didn't appear to be a carry-on issue. I don't honestly know if it was by design. I did not go behind the curtain.

YEG_SE4Life, thanks for the update. Looks like 3 of the 5 new build CR9s are out in service now. Glad to hear they put the new bins in.

Anyone have any word on whether the old planes will be getting the new bins when they go in for re-configuration?

I've made a wiki so we can track the progress.

Because it wasn't in the wiki

And I can confirm it has not been reconfigured

So you're trying to be pedantic but inaccurately so?

I feel like that's a smart move.

No? I was going to be flying on that fin, and I was expressing disappointment that, based on the data in this thread, it would not have been reconfigured.

That is neither pedantic nor inaccurate.

Then I even followed up, after flying, to confirm the fact.

So your post was incomplete, as it could easily be interpreted that you were saying that fin wasn't going to be re-configured ever, rather than having to do with an upcoming flight you were taking

Booked YUL-BOS. In J, booking says CRJ705. Seat plan still 10 J seats, still 1A all by itself. They no longer seem to use the CRA designation.
