AC Non-refundable Ticket Beyond 12 Months?

I purchased a non-refundable ticket to travel last January but due to an unexpected emergency, had to cancel last minute. I called Air Canada to cancel before the departure date (Feb. 2) and understood that I have 12 months to use to credit.

I had totally forgotten about this and only realized now.

Does any know if there is a way for me to use this credit still and/or if there is a trick/special consideration with AC?

Thanks for your help.

I don't believe so. Also, was the ticket fully unused? If so, standard ticket validity for unused tickets is 12 months from issue date, so likely the credit expired much before that.

I would suggest contact AC Customer Relation and see if they will offer you anything. Worst is that you get nothing, which is the same as your current situation anyway, i.e. you got nothing to loose other than the time you spend typing your message to them.

Good Luck.

We have been granted an extension in the past. I'm not sure if AC is still that customer orientated.
Did your travel insurance or credit card insurance not cover the cancellation?

Let us know what the result is, but I also believe that it's 1 year from the date the ticket was issued..... you could be out of time already, although even if it's 1 year from the original departure date, you're likely out of time since in your original post you said the departure date was Feb 2.

You can extend for an additional 90 days from expiry date via call center for an additional fee on top of the normal change fee
