Comparing two new PE services, I am going to be trying out SQ's PE from SIN-AKL on Saturday.
Same 2-4-2 layout of the AC 777.
That said, from a food point of view, I have already booked the cook, which does afford some idea of what to expect.
I am very curious how they will compare for a long haul flight, will report back if people want to know

That would be great.
As those who saw my SQ J meals photos know, I did Book the Cook and each of the meals on each of my flights was outstanding.
I cannot understand why they can manage the quality and choice and pre-order and AC cannot. But we've debated that one to the end.
These are the cities with links to menus for Premium Economy and just one e.g. below - outbound from SIN
I wonder why AC can't do a test from one market.

Why don't they do it? Simple.
Incremental Revenue Gained <= Additional Cost Required
or....the excel Ben Smith likes to run
Set A1 to Non-J Passenger Reaction, =IF(A1="Happier","No","Yes")
AC have made it pretty clear that they dont really care unless you are in J.

The menu for PE isn't as (I'm not sure the right word) 'amazing' as J but that is to be expected.
The fact that I can choose and I have a reasonable expectation of tastiness is something I am looking forward to

I had one of the best Hamburgers I have ever eaten, SIN-PVG a few years back in SQ J.

I suspect a lot of it has to do with the fact that SQ has one hub.
You're all talking about flights leaving SIN.
Have you ever tried BTC on a flight going to SIN? I had roughly 8 options for LAX-NRT-SIN in F. Not the 50 you get leaving SIN. None of them looked particularly appealing. The lobster was pretty decent though. But it was not "amazing".
I suppose it's similar to how Hawksworth is only available on flights leaving certain airports in Canada, and never in the other direction.

SQ meals out of HKG were fantastic and there was a long list of choices.
And yes, you and I discussed the limited choices out of LAX etc.
The points I think we are trying to make is that SQ and others offer the service, the meals are generally excellent, there is more choice than you get out of YYZ, YVR or YUL on TATL/TPACs, and you can pre-order.
I have not looked into which other airlines offer BTC for PE cabins, but AC also chooses to give a J dinner (main) meal in PE and then a slice of banana bread and yogurt for breakfast on TATL. I am not the only one who thinks that a Y breakfast diminishes the word "Premium" in Premium Economy.
Anyway, since AC is filling the PE seats without having to improve that part of the "user experience", my opinion does not matter.

That strategy worked for AC because AC is making economy class Y- with the HD. If you want a decent legroom and comfort in a TATL/TPAC flight, it is either PY or J, or fly someone else.

Using ac.com (too cheap to pay for ef)
9PY YVR-SYD tonight
9PY YVR-HKD tomorrow
5PY YYZ-NRT tomorrow
7PY YVR-NRT tomorrow
too lazy to check more...
For whatever reason ac.com doesn't show premium economy for YYZ-LHR or YVR-LHR I'll assume related to inconsistent dreamcabin+PY?
Also the tacky ads at Union station in Toronto and at Burrard station in Vancouver for PY kinda makes me think they're trying to make this work. I love how all the PY seats were fully reclined for the photo and all the goodies in the mini-amenity kit spread out. =)

Also no sane person would redeem PY on AE when J is available.
AC is right, a little is a lot, a lot more $$$ for very little.

With AC removing the "little things" started on May 1 (no glass ware, no table linens) on PY, just wondering how many "little things" are left and further "enhanced" before PY becomes Y in service level! I am mostly a leisure TPAC flyer, seriously considering going to BR now.
