A couple years ago the summer promotion was a 14 day window for M fares, regardless of status.
Worked out really well for me as an E35K

Thanks all. Some interesting comments and theories about the promo and of course it's always fun to guess AC's strategies.
As far as upgrades go, specifically on Dom or TB, it must be nice if you have Lat Passes and such. Makes like simpler to do them. Or, if you or your employer pay for higher Flex, or Lat and if you're flying on a route with lots of empty J seats.
While this thread is about the Fall Promos of extended window and possibly fewer credits (for some fliers), it is also about the upgrade issue.
I'm not going to guess about whether AC's strategy of cutting the number of credits we earn while also increasing the number of credits we need, was a good idea.
But looking at this on a recent flight to LAX, well........
This flight had 7 pax in a 42 seat cabin. I also know that on another morning, there were 3 in J in the 24 seat swapped-in 763.
There are other flights I've been on as well, but 6 J pax in a 14 seat 320 does not look nearly like this:

Anyway, what was it you were all saying about upgrade availabilities?

Will take something for nothing, but looks like a stingy program followed by a big downturn in the oil patch has caused AC to see the light. Maybe for the first time in years we will actually get something bette from the program this year. Of course I should probably have learnt that there is still room to go down further.

I'm (pleasantly) surprised at the length of this promotion - pretty much 4 months from now through Dec 31.
I too have experienced empty J cabins this year on routes that used to go out full.

What are the odds of AC doing samething later on for longuer flights and should i keep myeups? I already regret using some of my eups on shorter flights this year.
If i had to guess i would say eups/$ are less valuable on shorter flights.

AC's medium-long term fix for empty J cabins wouldn't be more eUps. It will be smaller J cabins.

So it seems to be route/schedule dependent.
I think that's one of the big problems. Just because you can sell 14J on a 6pm YYZ-SFO the day before the first day of the week doesn't mean you can do it at 4pm or 8pm the same day, or at 6pm the previous or next day.
Is a full J cabin 2-3 days a week worth keeping an empty one (or upgrades) the rest of the time? Or would they rather have people who want to pay for J sitting in Y because they shrink it down to 10J?
Not within North America.
