Will Aeroplan/Altitude recognise Turkish Elite Status?
I am BA Gold, and I can use that status across the whole oneworld network - lounge access etc where relevant.
I am also Elite at Turkish, which is in the same Alliance as Air Canada.
I am flying Air Canada for the first time next week, so, I just spent 40 minutes on hold to see if I can get my Turkish Status recognised on those bookings only to be told it 'doesn't work like that here'
In your experience, is that right? Is it simply an ability to gain smiles&miles on an Air Canada flight but without lounge access?
Thanks in advance!

What agent told you that? 40 minutes totally wasted.
Star Gold gets you priority security, lounge access, zone 2 boarding, priority check in and an extra bag on Air Canada.
Why wouldn't it, it's an alliance just like OneWorld is.
Just make sure your FFP is on the booking (if you can't add it to the booking at home, the airport agent can add it for you).

Thanks for the replies!
I had hoped they were the responses needed.
Will definitely make sure I fly with my Turkish Card as seems not everyone perhaps knows, and would rather avoid embarrassment at the lounge entrance...!

Double-check when checking in or at the lounge that your Turkish FF number is attached to your booking so that you earn the miles too. It will show up on your boarding pass as something like "TK*G".

When you check in online make sure you enter your TK elite number even if this is a non-revenue ticket. If your number is attached to your file it'll no be a problem, you'll get all the benefits of a Star Gold member.
