Good catch! I see they still have the paper directional signs up, at least for Zone 2.

The last time I was there, they walked through the line and let the J pax go first, before the rest of the Zone 1s. Could be a one off though.

Booked some class X tickets for some family members. What zone will they find themselves in? I am not traveling with them.

DO they have status ? If not, likely Zone 5 though some anecdotal examples sometimes they may be on the zone of the points account holder.

Minimized the time out in the very cold Toronto weather.
Did they do Z1/2 first?

Zone 3 should still be given for preferred seat purchases or sitting at the back of the plane. Or zone 4 for the middle of Y. Anything else is incorrect and a nice bonus if it occurs.

My family have got zone 4/5 with X. I have Zone 1 on paid ticket. I have also traveled on points for all of us and I have Zone 1 while the rest had zone 5.

My experience as well, even if I am on the same booking.

When I've checked in at the same time (OLCI, ensure everyone's name is checked before proceeding), we all get zone 1.

If an agent checks us in, or we do OLCI separately, it's left to each passenger's status.

In both cases, yes.

The rules even say you just check in at the same time, but I think that's just a description of a technical issue.

I checked in at the SE desk and still got Zone 5 on most of them except mine which was zone 1

Ok, I'm asking because it's not clear to me whether they are all on the same PNR.

But @WaytoomuchEurope isn't flying with them.

When did they remove the separate Zone 1 and Zone 2 signs from that gate?

I never thought that area could get "too" congested for individual lanes, especially when boarding for the redeyes at 44/45 when it can get busy in that area.

How do you guys deal with people massing around the gate? I'm often boarding in Zone 3 but you have people from Zone 4 & 5 lined up together. I don't want to wait in line so I try to wait until the end of the Zone 3 boarding and get in front of the Zone 4 people but I can never tell where the separation is.
