e-MCO cannot be used in conjunction with a Promotion Code.

Was just looking at submitting an e-MCO against a trip which I've already booked and will be flying in the next few weeks. The trip was originally booked using a public 15% off promo code offered earlier this year. Now when I read on the e-MCO web page it states that "An e-MCO cannot be used in conjunction with a Promotion Code."

Just wondering if this is correct? The MCO is for $500 so I'd hate for it not to be valid based on a technicality. When I received the MCO there was nothing which stated any conditions around promo codes.

I'm not sure if you're misreading what it says. I read it as them saying that you can not use both an e-MCO and a promotion code on the same flight booking. Is that how you're reading it too? Or are you thinking that because you used a promotion code on the original booking, that your e-MCO is going to to be rendered unusable?

Again, sounds like not a policy issue but a system limitation. Impossible to use both on the same reservation.

How long until they fire Lise and IBM? And finally decide policy has to prevail over incompetence?

I'm not exactly sure how to read it. My concern is that since the original booking used a promo code I will not be able to apply the e-MCO against it once travel is completed.

This had better be a system limitation... MCOs are often issued by AC as required compensation (say by EU law) and quite frankly they should often be just giving you a wack of euros instead.

Except, of course, when a "system limitation" prevails over policy, there is something rotten somewhere.

Not professional.

I'm positive I've submitted MCOs on flights that were booked with codes. The reason I didn't book directly with agent to apply MCO is so I could use the discount code. Unless things have changed, you should be fine.

Wasn't there a thing once where you had to buy the ticket and then bring in the MCOs after the fact and they would issue you a refund (or maybe mail them in)? I seem to recall doing that once...

There is an online form where you enter your MCO number along with the ticket number you wish to apply it to. This can only be done after the ticket is flown. Once you fill out the form, you sit back and wait for the credit to appear on your credit card statement.

Wanted to check if OP or anyone else recently ended up using a promo code and e-MCO together?

I am about to book a ticket using a 15% promo code. I am hoping that after the travel is completed, I would be apply the e-MOC using the online form.

Would appreciate any recent data points that confirm my approach would work.

Thanks a lot

my most recent data point is 2016 - where I applied an e-MCO after travel had been completed (and I had used a discount code for the original ticket).

Should be no problem IMO.

Awesome, thanks a lot.

One quick follow-up question: are e-mcos applied only to base fare or can carrier surchages also included? I understand I have to pay taxes. Wasn't sure about the "carrier surcharge's" treatment.

Thanks

Base fare only.

But I do remember of an FTer being able to use and eMCO and X% voucher by calling in. Searched forum and can't find it... maybe it was at a do...
