Certainly did imply that the way it was written, but SEMM often makes little mistakes like this (meant one thing but didn't write it clearly).

So for example if you wanted to change your seat, AC expects you to do onboard with the FA's assisting in moving paxs around.

This aspect sounds like a recipe for disaster.

Ya, I can't believe this part is true. GA's have to be able to assign seats.

Definitely gives renewed importance to cross-referencing PNRs if traveling with another pax on a different itinerary.

Any aircraft change, IRROPS, misconnections and you could wind up not seated together.

Maybe when I grow up, Air Canada will trust me with that information too.

Welcome to Canada. Prevailing privacy issues are largely the reason we don't have this system in place. I'm only privy to manifest information within 24 hours of the actual flight, and only for the flight to which I'm assigned to operate.

In both cases that you brought forward, the system worked as it was supposed to correctly in the first example. When there is a downgage, they are obviously short seats if the new equipment can't handle the existing load. Therefore, they go by status in accommodating the previously issued upgrades to accommodate the existing confirmed and paid paxs first, then again by status for the upgrades.

In the second instance; something happened as when you place yourself on an early Stand by you are NEVER giving up your original booked fare/seat until such time that you are cleared and confirmed from the stand by list. In this case you should have or could write into the company for an explanation as to why you were bumped from your original status while never being confirmed on another flight. The history and agent sign in's are all still there once the flight closes and they could tell if someone was out ahead of you for whatever reason.

Not always the case for point 1. I was flying EWR-YYZ and they merged (upgauged) two flights onto a Airbus and I lost my aisle seat and was assigned a middle seat. So much for status. Checkin agent said system assigned and go talk to the GA. All worked out well finally after a few visits to the GA

Technically no, yuo must be an SE or SEMM or Business Class pax and.or VIP to use concierge services. That being said I have seen many a concierge help out MM'ers.

OK here is what I was able to confirm this morning both in YUL and YYZ concierges'. They (concierge) are going thru the new gate training first, some today as I type this and will be completed by the end of next week. Apparently, the new automated "Gate Agent System" is to cut back on training cost in training more CSA's that can control flights. They will no longer have the ability (GA's) to override the system in reassigning seats, and/or duplicate seats etc...all this will now be done by the system. So for example if you wanted to change your seat, AC expects you to do onboard with the FA's assisting in moving paxs around. Same will apply for upgrades etc and also accoodating any non-rev paxs (cons) as well. Essentially they will no longer have any manipulation powers etc. The concierges will have a different sign in authority which will allow them to continue to do the same stuff they are currently doing for J class paxs and SE's and MM'ers.

On a Rapidair flight next week with a confirmed u/g on a flex pass. Will be interesting to note how the system places me on an earlier Rapidair flight and where I am in the u/g system.Travelling with Mrs.acysb87 who is confirmed in J on AE award ticket

I believe the "go live"date is May 5th. Your combo sounds like a receipe for disaster under this new automatd system....good luck and report back if you can.

Or not on the same flight at all.

I was greeted personally by the concierge as I got of the plane in Zurich and had a 90min connect to Milan. She called me out personally and escorted me downstairs through security and immigration with absolutely no one there. This is where all VIP go through. She then personally escorted me to SWISS air lounge and introduced me to them. This was the most remarkable service I have yet to have on AC. It was completely unexpected.

Why are you breaking out SE/MM? MM has nothing to do with this. It is simply SE, J or VIP.

Out of curiosity, does J mean full J or would C/Z/P count?
