That's not quite the same as asking for volunteers though. I doubt the CTA would buy into that sort of thing without some (acceptable/reasonable) changes in the tariff.

So you insist that they plan to break their own rules, which require calling for volunteers before IDBing people?

You might not be aware that they already lost once with the CTA on that very issue. Might not sit well with the CTA if they not only go back to doing it, but go to the extreme of incorporating it in automated procedures....

Bottom line: I don't believe a word of it.

We will see I guess when it goes live in two weeks time how and if they use this gate suite tool that they will have at there disposition....I don't believe most of what comes out of most FT'ers as well on here at times.^

No need to "believe what comes out of most FT'ers," tariffs are publically available on the AC web site.

Further update on the new "GAte Blitz" training.
Apparently it has now been decided to do a phase in approach with out East being the first people to go live and Western Canada (west of Winnipeg) will be only at the end of the summer pending success rate of Eastern Canada deployment/training etc.
Another clarification about some of the function that this new "Robot" I have termed will be doing not involving initial GA's input. It will assign everyone seats including, upgrades, and non-revenue paxs etc. After that has been done, the person "controlling" the flight will be able to go back in and sort the obvious mess that this "robot" will be creating such as assigning people with disabilities in Emergency exits an/or infants or groups travelling together etc. This is were some functions although limited, will be available to this position.
when I find out more about the new "Gate Blitz" roll out I will repost ion here no doubt.

P.S. Was on Rapidair from YYZ-YUL yesterday morning and in 3F was someone from AC Management working on a powerpoint presentation about the new "Gate Blitz" program...I ws so tempted to ask him questions had I been in 3D next to him.;)

Starting to make more sense.

While I'm not really excited for this change, thank you SEMM for the constant updates.
I'll also try to scoop up some information when I get a chance to chat with AC employees.

If this goes the same way as what's currently going on with passes, it's going to be interesting.

As in the Chinese curse, that is.

i'm flying Monday morning on a flex pass with an upgrade request. What could possibly go wrong:rolleyes:

Indeed I have. All the drama over flight passes/upgrades today coupled with a new gate control system deployment on Monday is going to make for an interesting journey.

winnipegrev Jun 8, 2014 11:56 pm

Just a heads up. The new automation for gate control is being implemented today, June 9 in YOW as the pilot-project station. I hear all AC stations will be switched over before the end of the year.

If anyone is moving through YOW with waitlisted eUps etc, I'd like to hear how it goes. I won't be transiting YOW for a long time.

YOWie Jun 9, 2014 6:34 am

Flew out of YOW at 7:00 to YYZ this morning and didn't notice anything different in the process.
