I've been told that the Concierge will still have full access to offloads, rebooking, missed CNX and upgrades etc. So essentially nothing changes.^

Hopefully you are right. however, not quite te casethat "nothing changes," likely means more work for the concierges. Fixing all the instances where the system gets nuts.

Just told that gate procedures change soon to fully automated gate control.
Anyone have an idea what "soon" is with AC's IT? |
You know what I hope this is an improved system cause I've lost my CONFIRMED eUp twice!
First time, I was flying YVR-YYC and on G fare went online and upgraded several days before and it confirmed instantly. When I went to check-in, I was re-assigned to Y. At the time I was only 75K and didn't have access to Concierge so the customer service was useless. They said it appeared to be an equipment change so the system reset my upgrade. I was put on the wait-list but wasn't called for the upgrade. Was not impressed! Second time, I again had a confirmed upgrade then using my mobile check-in I also put myself on Standby for an earlier flight. I didn't make it on standby as the flight was already oversold. When I went to my actual flight I was told that my J cabin seat was released because I was on standby for an earlier flight. I again was re-assigned to Y. Obviously the AC system is good at "confirming" the upgrade, but it doesn't know how to keep the upgrade. (Reminds me of a Seinfeld skit) |

(Reminds me of a Seinfeld skit) In the second instance; something happened as when you place yourself on an early Stand by you are NEVER giving up your original booked fare/seat until such time that you are cleared and confirmed from the stand by list. In this case you should have or could write into the company for an explanation as to why you were bumped from your original status while never being confirmed on another flight. The history and agent sign in's are all still there once the flight closes and they could tell if someone was out ahead of you for whatever reason. |
It will be all fun and games till IRROPS ... when AC's legendary IT should begin to show its true talents.

What time ? I'm upgraded already
Again, would be nice to see how many other SEs are ahead of me, would assume anyone given my low G fare. |
Looks like this will be an IT mess at the start. But at least this should help to minimize GAs not following the rules and upgrading those they want. Either those that buy them timbits or AC employees.
