I think you are misunderstanding what is going on...they aren't opening award seats in high season, because the do not have to. Plenty of paying customers are filling those seats you want nicely, thank you, so no need to waste them on award inventory;-)

Question call AC?

Great thread, Safti! So informative that I am re-booting it for my plans for family travel to NZ next year.......

AP gives cnx. via LHR & SIN on SQ, which I am OK with (the only downside is taxes are much higher than on UA).

I plan to book 1 or more rev. seats and the AC WEB site is useless. All options are via SYD (I want to avoid) and cnx. on Emirates (why??)

The SQ site allows me to replicate the AP itinerary but the Y fares are ridiculous!

ANZ site has better fares, but no way to avoid SYD cnx.

Is my best option simply to call AC?
