Gave it a +1 like since there are only 27 likes on it...
Came across this link on AC's facebook page buried in some comments.... not sure who created it, but it's sure handy given recent events :) Funny how AC's facebook page can't be bothered to note an announcement that affects such a large number of their customers....

The whole raison d'etre of that page was that the guy who started it booked two non-refundable tango tickets and then was surprised when they wouldn't refund his money. I'm amazed they gave him any credit at all, that's the whole point of a NON REFUNDABLE ticket.
Forget liking that page, I would DISlike that page if I could. There are lots of legitimate reasons to be annoyed at Air Canada but that is just one idiot suffering from the effects of being an idiot.

I have a feeling that many AC elites suffer from Stockholm syndrome if they know what is happening to their FFP and they do nothing about it.
(or their company forces them onto AC if the fares are cheaper.)

Then again, they are the 'best airline in NA, so maybe the users will like it'

The guy is a tool, plain and simple. He bought a non-refundable fare, agreed to terms and conditions and is now crying and carrying on like a child.
I hope he follows through on his silly threat to take AC to court. I expect the results to be amusing and not in his favour.

No, not Stockholm syndrome - it's the lack of real competition in domestic Canada. If someone does 90%+ of their biz travel within Canada, AC is the only real game in town.

From Statscan: (from 2009, last time they did this nice summary text on market share, but Westjet has increased its share since).
"For the 12-month period, January to December 2009, WestJet continued to gain market share, in terms of passenger traffic, in international scheduled services and slightly lost market share to Air Canada, in domestic scheduled services. During the period, WestJet transported 50.1% of domestic passengers and 18.9% of international passengers. Comparable figures for the 2008 period were respectively 50.8% and 14.5%. However, Air Canada still dominated the domestic sector in terms of passenger-kilometres with 57.8% of the market (see Table 2). (Note: market share is measured here with respect to these two carriers' operations only.)"

The whole point of the page was to get new material for the creators social media consulting business. Let me be clear, Ian Nethercott is in the business of providing companies with consulting services to set up and operate a social media presence. He also does speaking engagements. He is not interested in getting the $800 backe as he has earned the fees many times over by using his experiences with AC to push the social media agenda.
