Shorted Two Certificates For Dec

I just received my January statement Since November I had flown 19800 Q miles. Guess what there were only two certificates enclosed and not 4. I cant believe that they have sto0ped to such a new low. I will be calling our friend RD on this one for sure. Also I have still not gotten my SE package.

I can't be the only one loosing patience.

UPDATE FEB 22-- A Very nice Super Elite Agent Called today and told me that the certificates are in the mail. I am Prepared to give credit where credit is due. MT responded to my letter in less than one week. Thanks AC for listening there may be hope yet.

You get 2 for every 10K flown so since you haven't flown 20K, why do you expect 4?

Am I missing something?

Would you get 2 on the next statement if you had another flight?

Yup... as long as that flight was in 2001. You get 2 for every 10K threshold you pass after 20K.

Remember that the upgrade counter resets on Jan 1 though.

Right, UA works the much in the same way, except you get 4 500 milers for every 10K, and 2 (and only 2) HK-49's for 10K in a quarter. Which is why if you're a 1K you should schedule your SIN mileage run over a quarter stop .

At AC the counter resets Jan 1. So in fact I will have flown all of the required miles for those certs except .20% and never see them.

I have written to Marc Trudeau and RD on this.

AC's rule is that for every 10K Q miles you fly [after 20K Q miles] in a calendar year, you'll get 2 upgrade certs. It doesn't matter whether you are missing the next threshold by 2 or 200 Q miles, if you didn't cross it, then it's not AC's fault. Let's try to keep our complaints legitimate and not flood RD and RM with everything, otherwise, we'll lose our credibility [if we still have any left. ].

In the past there was a magin of about 2% plus or minus and we were always given the benafit of the doubt.

Anyways RD changed his e-mail address and Marc Trudeau still hasnt responded to my last letter.

The agent I spoke to thought that they should have been sent to me.....I will keep you posted.

Yulse, it's a safe bet there will be so many 2002 upgrade certificates floating around that you'll never miss the two you didn't get!

Sorry, but cannot agree with you deserving the additional two certificates when you did not fly the stated additional 10K. If it is such great concern to you, you should -- as most of us here would do knowing we'd be short a few hundred miles -- have done another flight or segment. Why should you get any grace from AC when the measures are very clear.

And as others have suggested, the 2002 certificates will be so underused that you will be able to pick them up from people on this site quite easily.

Chill out. It's not as if you missed elite status by a few hundred miles, or because AC didn't bother to let people know they were discounting the required mileage in 2001.

I actually was surprised when I got 2002 certs in my statement in December. I was expecting (and didnt want) 2001 certs (given there were still two months of the "year" left). It was a good gesture by AC to think here and send people the 2002 ones. I often need more in the early part of the year (2 people doing 1 return trip YVR - YYZ for example), and they arent always as easy to come by as at the end of the year.
No complaints here
