First eUpgrade attempt - fail
My very first attempt at an eUpgrade (I usually travel J courtesy of client).
# eUpgrade credits available = plenty!
my status = E (maybe SE in the AC system)
fare = S (more prcisely S7Z3TPB )
flight time = Friday afternoon; its now Monday morning, so on my count 4 days before the flight = (I think) OK booking window for E pax with a S fare
Flight booked through travel agent (not ac.ca)
.. and it tells me "not eligible for upgrade"
Can anyone tell me why this might be?
Only thing I can think of is that the '4 day prior' booking window for E pax is 4 x 24 hour periods before the flight time, rather than 4 calendar days. Is this the case?

Yes, that is exactly why -- it is measured on a 24 hour clock. So if your flight is at 4:30 AM, your upgrade booking window will open at 4:30 AM the prescribed number of days before your flight.

Like catgirl said, the system is quite strict on time. Sometimes you can also call in Air Canada Priority Contact and they may be able to provide you further information regarding to the e-upgrade attempt.

No, don't call them. They are still confused about the window as they were two years ago. The window opens exactly at departure time at departure point minus 168/96/48 hours depending on status, for each segment of your trip. If you are flying LHR - YVR (14.25) and YVR - YYC (18.00), you request your 1st upgrade at 14.25 London time 168/96/48h prior. Then wake up at 2 a.m. in LHR to request an upgrade for the 6 p.m. connecting flight from YVR to YYC. The same rule applies on the YYZ - SYD route via YVR. Even though you are travelling on flight 033 from YYZ to SYD, you must request upgrades separately for YYZ-YVR and YVR-SYD at the appropriate departure time windows. Good luck if you are figuring local Australian and Canadian times in Bora Bora.

Umm....no
if you start 33 in YYZ, you request for the whole flight at the YYZ time. YVR-SYD only matters if your YYZ-SYD does not clear and then the list is transferred automatically.
