After some publicly discussed abuse of this, I believe it now books into V.

Aeroplan Ticket Same Day Change

Is availability based on physical space?

There is apparently no more airport standby for Aeroplan ticket but a change fee of $75 applies. (Flying AC metal).

Thanks!

Aeroplan business class has free standby.

SDC has a fee. It's based on positive space.

Thanks.

So long as availability is based on physical space available and not matching to specific fare bucket (booked in I on ACxxx changing to remaining business class seats available for sale on ACyyy on the same day), I am prepared to pay the $75 instead of going standby in view of Aeroplan business class standby is behind eUpgrade and most probably also behind business class auction bidders.

so you are saying that if you do a SDC of an Aeroplan award ticket, you are rebooked on an non-award booking-class that earns miles or is eligible for upgrades ? nice!

No, no one is saying that.

There were some posts a while back asking about SDC on a ticket issued by another airline, and someone replied that it wasn't allowed. Is this confirmed, and/or still the case?

I have a ticket issued by United, and would like to take an earlier flight from YYZ-EWR. The fare class is P (business class). Both the flight I'm on, and the flight I want to change to are operated by Air Canada. According to the Air Canada website, either the SDC or standby should be free for this fare and routing - doesn't say anything about who has to issue the ticket.

Can anyone confirm? Also, is it possible when checking in online or only at the airport?

How is doing SDC from SFO? I'm on the 430pm flight to YYZ but might try and SDC at 1115 to get on the 787...last time I tried this was at PEK and they refused to do it. Will I be OK walking up to the checkin desk at SFO?

Yes. They're quite well versed in SDC procedures.
