I took artistic licence replacing the 'a' with a 'your'. But you are the only penguin I communicate with.

The only one from the Arctic? I say this with only friendly jest and a big smile on my face Something some members forget because we're behind an internet board. Have fun, create a great culture, make others laugh and add value. For that, I have to thank you for!

Its currently -25C here, and I'm in the Northern Hemisphere. If that doesn't qualify as Arctic, I don't know what does. So yes... right now you're an arctic penguin, not an antarctic one....

I'll give you that. I'm in YUL, and it's ******* cold! In all honesty, and I know i'm opening myself to further attacks which i'm just hitting "ignore" to now on the board (as was requested of me when bringing up the subject by the poster), and I choose that word carefully, but honestly I could give two bad words about a board...but I focus on the top line, not the bottom line. If I could make $10/more instead of saving two $, then that's what I'd rather do. Call me stupid or other words, that's your choice, but it's what I elect to do, every time. My time is worth $ to me, so it is what it is, even if you so choose to flame me for it. (which i'm not saying is what you (pleblond) are doing, far from it, but others! ) Life isn't about getting the best deal, for me. Money talks. Have a problem, pay your way out of it.

Just to follow up. He needed to extend an extra day, so SDC no longer an option. Thanks for all the feedback.

Just had a weird data point... Had to move my flight today so I called in expecting to pay 56.50 plus free difference but was charged fifty and no fare diff?? I thought that was the sdc fee? Given the result I guess one can do a sdc over the phone? Fwiw the guy was super polite on the phone!

Could it be you moved to a equal / lower fare bucket in which case there would be no additional fare? SDC is usually $75, so it doesn't sound like you did that. So now you pulled a penguin and actually saved money in the process

Indeed, it works out from time to time

It was in fact a lower fare But not sure why I was charged $50...

Double check your ticket now to make sure you weren't downgraded from Flex to Tango. Agents tend to book people into the lowest available bucket, often ignoring what the fare "family" of the original booking was.

You may have been charged the "any time" change fee, not the SDC. The way things work is that the $50 fee is a transaction charge; it gets charged whenever you make a change transaction. I've had check-in agents charge me the $50 fee instead of the $75 fee thinking I'd appreciate saving $25, but when they confirmed I was being placed into Tango I politely declined, opting for the SDC (w/o fare difference) instead.

If the new fare is higher you get charged $50 plus fare difference.

If the new fare is lower you get charged $50 and forfeit the fare difference. If you've had the misfortune of being downgraded to Tango you'll get the double whammy of having a higher change fee and a lower credit value if you need to make any additional changes (i.e if your original ticket was Flex at $500 and you change to Tango at $400, you'll pay $50 to make the change and the system will show that you now have a $400 ticket - $100 just went poof - and then if you have to pay $75 for your next change and can only apply $400 to the new itinerary).

Oops. Noob error. Yes, - agreed with your $50 thing. - I somehow forgot taxes exist, lol. Thanks for the headsup about fare. I freaked out when I read it because I forgot...V fare, so i'm good for Flex

Believe it or not I've only ever done one SDC in the last decade, due to the fact that most of my flying is long haul.

My questions is this: I'm on AC metal on a TK ticket with a TK flight # for the AC segment in paid J. Can I SDC at YVR for the domestic AC portion?

Thanks!

SE desk says SDC can only be done on 014 ticket stock.

That's a question I'd probably ask a concierge. I find that reservations agents often don't know how things work at the airport.

He read the actual passage from the SDC document (along with another 5-6 rules before he got to the 014 ticket stock rule).

I'm going to go and standby for the earlier flight regardless. Spending 5 hours at YUL makes me want to kill myself....try and get a few more hours and I'll head in to the city.

Sorry to resurrect an old thread.

If I hold a Premium Economy (Lowest) international TATL ticket and I same day change to a flight that doesn't have a premium economy cabin, does anyone have any experience as to what fare bucket they end up moving you into? Would love to see it go Y or B like domestically for obvious reasons. Has anyone done this?
