AMEX 2 for 1 ticket Q

Hey all,

I know there's been alot of buzz about the 50k bonus aeroplan amex plat card, and I had a question on the 2 for 1 15k aeroplan classic ticket:

If I were to have the card, and wanted to utilize the benefit, do I have to be one of the travelling passengers?

I know with Aeroplan itself, if I used 15000 aeroplans, I could provide the name of my brother or something and then I would be gifting him a flight basically. Would this concept be the same for this 2 for 1?

I.e I have the card, I call aeroplan, I use 15k of my aeroplan points, book a ticket for Erome's Dad and Erome's Mom, pay all the taxes etc?

This is kind of going to be one of my tipping factors for getting the card. I'll be 35k Elite next year so the other stuff is less important, my major factors are the 50k points, the 1.25/1.5 bonus, and the 2 for 1 ticket.

Does anyone have any experience with this?

Thanks for the help!

I believe the cardholder has to be travelling and the partner ticket (only) can be for someone else.

"Basic Cardmember may redeem 15,000 Aeroplan Miles for one short-haul roundtrip ClassicFlight Reward Ticket in economy class and receive a Partner Ticket for the same itinerary" from t&c's.

Yes, I had read the T and C, and like I said under normal situation you can redeem 15k points for yourself OR someone else...

The T and C doesnt say if redeem for yourself or others or specifies...

That's awesome to hear!

Thanks so much for the help.

I'll definitely sign up for this card then, it'll be nice to send my folks to Victoria or Vancouver every year as a nice present!

Self refer? As in if I have an amex, and sign up for another one, then get 50k bonus + referring bonus?

Unfortunately I'm only packing aerogold visa...

The real trick is finding any space at peak times, but if they like to travel in February...

Well the nicety is they live in Red Deer and can hop out of either airport YYC or YEG really.

As for peak times, meh, its more of a 'hey you got 4 days off and nothing to do, go visit Auntie and the kids and eat some good dim sum and sushi'

Lol

Remember, both tickets for the 2 for 1 AMEX offer have to come the classic (not classic plus) non-priority (ie not instant KK for SEs, not the priority economy inventory for Es) inventory.
