eUpgrade pickle...
I'm in a pickle here.
As most of you know, I usually travel with my mom. So we're both SE.
She has 13 eUpgrades expiring end of Feb, I have 42 (or 50).
The flights I'd like to upgrade are:
• YYC-YYZ-YYC *2 on M fares = 16. One flight is tmrw in the am and she is cleared from my credits while I'm on the waiting list with J0. That's why my account shows 42 while really I have 50. I could probably enlist the help of the concierge to use my moms eUpgrades. So basically we can downgrade this to 12 eUpgrades. So she would have 1 left on February 29.
• YYC-FRA-YYC *2 on T+ = 56. I should use the ones from my account and 6 from next years'.
Usually I'd do the YYZ upgrades from my account, one TATL from hers and the rest from mine, but AFAIK AC IT only allows one person to use eUpgrades per itinerary.
Am I thinking right?
Thanks for your help!

that's right--all eupgrades on the itinerary going one way should be from one eupgrade account
For returns, others have success in using eupgrades from a different account AFTER the outbound is flown (but still all from one account, not shared between accounts).

Some outbound flights clear right upon landing. Some seem to get stuck for a while longer in the online itinerary. I've seen one get stuck for 2 more days... Once they disappear from the online itinerary, you're good to upgrade.
If they don't disappear on their own, apparently one can call in and get them cleared out manually, and then the upgrade works. I've prepared for a call-in, in the past, but never done this since those flights cleared.

Further to this, has anyone had success upgrading from different accounts before flights are flown, perhaps by splitting the inbound and outbound parts of a return ticket into two PNRs?

I tried a few times before the 7 day window opened for the return flight, but I was told that they can only split the PNR so I can request the return upgrade from a different account once the upgrade window opens.

Two of us are traveling.
Outbound: I use my credits for both of us.
Inbound: I use my own credits, and wife uses her own credits.
We have NOT flown this itinerary on B fare.
This agent gave us 3 PNR locators. One for the outbound, one for the inbound of mine, one for the inbound of hers.

I have several times used my upgrades outgoing for both of us and my wife's for both on return. Last trip I didn't have enough for me for return as I was waiting for threshold so she upgraded her seat four days out, splitting the PRN for return and once my credits came in I got a gate upgrade. My experience is that you have more flexibility on the return and the agents have been sympathetic and helpful when you are calling from an ocean away.
