This is a bit OT but since people are asking about showers, I have a question. I know these are lounge showers and relatively clean, but do people use shower shoes or sandals? I have contemplated using showers on before or after Long Haul flights but never have because of the lack of shower shoes.

See a member of the lounge staff by the food area, they will take your boarding pass and unlock the shower room for you.

Are you sure that you're not speaking about an arrivals lounge rather than an ordinary airport lounge?

I wonder, though, what if you were flying, say, YYJ-YVR-YYZ - still same rules even though domestic only? I have a vague recollection of being denied showers in YVR or YYZ 5-7 years ago on a non-international flight.

Of course you can use the showers. If you are entitled to use the lounge you can use the shower. Why else would they put a shower in the DOMESTIC terminal only to restrict access?

There are definitely showers in the YVR domestic and t/b MLL
Here's domestic MLL shower photo on June 21, 2010 (and the transborder one is later in the album)
Remember to actually take a shower. I went in to take these photos and got scolded by the lounge maid when I came out too quick

How long is your layover? Coming from SEA you've got to hike from the turboprop gates to Canada Customs & Immigration, possibly queue up, talk to the officer, wait at the carousel to claim your bag (if you've checked one), proceed to Air Canada, drop your bag, go through security and then make your way to the domestic MLL. Will you still have time for a shower?
