I thought the Libs were doing away with ICBC as one of their 100-day pledges. But I believe you may be right about the sales tax thing. I will check with a friend of mine from Saskatchewan who bought her car while stopping over at my place a few years ago in Edmonton, then she continued on to her new home in Nanaimo. In her case, the model she wanted would have taken 3 to 4 months before it would be available in BC, but she found it down the street from me. I can vouch for Few Miles, he seems to be a responsible sort.
Maybe the idea of taking over "the bubble" between YYZ and YVR might be worth considering. All use YYZ types could fly out, while you folks in YVR could come into YYZ to "collect" Empress.

You guys are so wonderful, thanks so much for the party idea!
If this is a go-ahead, my move won't be happening until the end of August so lots of time for planning.
Ken, I love your idea about taking over the entire J cabin for the whole YYZ-YVR flight and party all the way!

You also face a problem on resale in BC--if the vehicle is not BC origin, that is going to affect the value that you can recoup on a trade in.
August is a good time to buy a car out here. There are lots of old model vehicles going with sweetheart financing, and lots of lease-returns and rental inventory coming up for sale in the used market.
