Air Canada Reports April Traffic Montreal
MONTREAL, May 18 /CNW/ - Air Canada flew 0.8 per cent fewer revenue passenger miles (RPMs) in April 2001 than flown by Air Canada and Canadian together in the same month of 2000, according to preliminary traffic figures. Capacity decreased by 1.8 per cent, resulting in a load factor of 74.3 per cent, compared with 73.6 per cent in April 2000.
According to Danielle Poudrette, Vice President Marketing, "We continue to manage our capacity carefully and have redeployed equipment from the North American market to overseas destinations. Through these actions, we were able to increase load factors in all major regions with the exception of Atlantic, where travel through the UK gateway was affected by hoof and mouth fears. Weakened business travel is still affecting the traffic mix."
