Interlining AC - QF
Hi, in August I am flying AC from Toronto to DFW and connecting with a Qantas flight to Sydney. Will AC be able to check my bag through? I will be on seperate tickets.
I stuffed my booking up slightly and have way too much time at DFW!

My understanding is that AC will generally not through check to non-*A airlines on separate tickets however you may have luck at the airport with a nice agent. Note also that QF will be the same on the way back. Officially, they will not through check but you may have luck with a nice agent.

Actually, On my recent flight to MEL, AC did through-check my bag all the way. I had to pick it up in SYD to clear customs, but merely dropped it off again at the domestic transfer desk without the need to re-tag it. Same thing on the return flight: while you do have to physically claim the bag off the carousel for customs purposes in YVR, the bag was tagged in MEL all the way to my final Canadian destination.
I flew AC 033/034 connecting with Jazz on this end and with QF down under. All very painless.

The above is incorrect. That was the case a few years ago, but they have changed
their policies, and will interline on separate itineraries. Earlier this week I flew
AC YYZ-NRT on one itin, then started a RTW in NRT with an NH flight to TPE.
AC not only checked my bag all the way, they even issued the NH boarding
pass in YYZ.
If they have interline agreements with all the carriers involved, they should be able to through-check your bags. They definitely have agreements with
CA, you will have to check if they do with WY as well.

I really wish people would stop posting this information as it leads to continued confusion. AC did away with this policy a few years ago and will now check bags through on separate tickets (provided an interline baggage agreement is in place). This has been discussed several times over the past few years; just 10 days ago IluvSQ corrected you on a post of yours...
My point regarding the reverse direction still stands following changes made late last year.
