Early E / *G

I made E in the last couple weeks of the 2010.

I'm out and and about in Asia these past few weeks. As I fly exec on my trans pacific I never noticed if I had *G but then I had *G on a ANA flight between GMP and HND, without asking, lounge pass/priority tags. Yet OZ from NRT to ICN didn't (not that the 9am flight needed lounge access). Both flights where books as an ANA return ticket via expedia.

I have some flight choices to make at the end of the week, if I'm going to get *G / Lounge access I wouldn't mind racking up some miles to make a early push for SE, but frankly if theres not at least a 75% chance of access when flying UA/CO or US I'd just fliy direct and spend my time drinking in a hotel bar instead.

What do you think? crap shoot, or if ANA shows me as a StarGold shouldn't everyone? I don't have E card yet so I'm kinda dependent on it happening automaticlly.

I'm showing a E on the Aeroplan site and got my bonus miles for my flights this year, even the ANA flight (OZ was this morning so we'll see)

my suggestion is to print out your Aeroplan statement showing your elite status with membership number. And perhaps a page showing AC Elite = Star Gold and advise them

If it's in AP's computers, for flights you're booking now your *G status should show up automatically as long as you give your AP number when you book. That should go a long way to getting you into the lounge, especially where they pass out invitation cards at checkin.

I am a long time E. I have no trouble accessing CO, UA and US lounges by showing my BP and AE/*G card. It is a great perk. But don't wait to be invited to access the lounge. Ask for directions when you are checking in.

I think the OP is saying that he doesn't have an AE*G card yet hence why he is talking about boarding passes. Correct me if I'm wrong........

I am in the same situation.....no AE Elite card yet but doing a transatlantic to dublin on Sunday on US Air and hoping that printout and boarding pass will be enough to use the lounge.

I don't expect that AE will get their act together and mail me my card / package by the end of this week

Didn't someone post here that it was possible to print your card directly from the AE website?*

*I have not tried to verify if this is actually possible.

The mobile aeroplan website will show your Gold status (as long as you were caught in the sweeps properly) and will display a scan-enabled barcode. If you have a web-enabled smartphone you can just show them that and tell them you don't have your card with you.

Well, I would agree, however the mobile card from the AE website no longer works properly.

When it first came online it was showing the correct status (Elite) now it only shows the tangerine card instead.

It would seem its the same for everyone. Not sure if the barcode when scanned would identify the members status correctly or not?
