Yes, South Africa would work as both South America and Europe are considered en-route.

If you fly through South America though, make sure you have yellow fever vaccination when entering South Africa

coming back you should be able to easily do a stop in MAD/LIS/BCN and then come home. Can even look for low YQ via IST or ZRH, like
JNB-IST-MAD/LIS/BCN-ZRH-SFO/BOS/YUL/ORD-YVR
I'll give this a shot again, I couldn't seem to find any Y availability and low YQ, but I'll play around with it. Would be cool for sure.

YVR-TPE is on the older B747... I heard the product is not that great... although I have never flown a 747 so maybe worth the experience?

are you booking J or Y?
J - avoid it, it's old business class
Y - well, it's not bad, especially the upper deck has more pitch. But IFE is old though, not a big deal for overnight flight

Note that it's not a DAILY flight

For one person two persons? Minimum YQ will be hard however a few options remain it depends where you want to go. Saying anywhere in Europe is too big

You can stop at a maximum of 3 ( 2 stopovers + your destination). Do you have any preference for places you want to see?

Paris would be in there, not rome or london. Otherwise, i would like cheap surcharge, to be surprised and get a good plane since this will all be economy. Thx.

Staying in Western Europe you will be pushed to find something with low YQ this late, also how long do you want to go for?

I suggest you read up and research more, so that we can help you better
4Y is almost impossible to find, you may need to break into 2 and 2

Some low YQ TATL routes to start with, once you find 4Y on a date/route, then work backwards

LX: YUL-ZRH
LO: YYZ/JFK/ORD-WAW
SN: JFK/IAD-BRU
UA: ORD/IAD/EWR-BRU/CDG/FRA etc...

4Y is possible

YOW-IAD-CDG (August 1) - CPH (connection) - GVA (connection) - BCN (Stop)

BCN-ZRH-AMS(stop)-WAW-YYZ-YOW (aug 22)

Let me check sample dates for the other flights

The problem with connections in Istanbul for Western Europe is that if you plan on hitting different cities in Europe, your itinerary will be over mileage and it won't work

That is over mileage unless they stop in WAW
