BA interlining
Hi,
I was trying to find the answer through the search, but couldn't find any recent info on whether AC and BA have an interlining agreement. I am travelling from YYZ to LHR on AC metal, then switching to BA from LHR to FRA (after a short break in the AC Arrivals lounge). Does anyone know whether I can check through my bags directly onto FRA when I check-in to AC tomorrow night? Will they transfer them over to BA, or do I need to collect them at LHR? That would take time away from the Arrivals lounge.

Should be no problem. Did it last summer AC to BA, separate tickets, everything arrived no issues. Just let the AC agent know when checking in, they will want your boarding pass/itin. When at LHR BA may need to see your baggage tickets, I can't recall at the moment.......

Interlining
I have to tell you that I've experienced an unwillingness to do this, whether on separate tickets or one ticket. I normally fly YVR to GVA and I prefer to go AC from YVR to LHR and then switch to BA. Up until about 5 years ago, it was no problem and the luggage was switched automatically. Then it became that I had to have one ticket with the two airlines (something that made the costs prohibitive). Then it became that they wouldn't do it at all. So, now I have to through FRA if I have luggage. If anyone knows of anything different, please let me know. I'd rather do the YVR LHR thing because of upgrades being more available.

Note to US t/a's.
"Through Check In
Effective May 21 (2009), the baggage for your customers holding two tickets can be checked to the final destination, provided Air Canada has an interline baggage agreement with the other carrier and minimum connection times are respected."

I am traveling YVR-LHR on AC and LHR- FCO on BA next week on separate tickets. With 2.5 hrs btwn flights: clearing customs, picking up baggage, heading to Term 5 and checking in might be dicey. Not that it should matter but I am E.
My travel agent says they should/could check the bags through to FCO but they don't "have too". Anyone know the official line?

Yes, they would.
But they might not honor the priority baggage tag when you get to your final destination. The *A priority tag is different from the OW priority tag.
I had the same problem flying YYZ-HKG in CX F, and then HKG-SIN in SQ J. My bags didn't come out with the priority ones at SIN because I didn't have a *A priority tag.
