I can't offer any advice on where to go, stay, but I assume you realise that the country borders are completely closed at the moment, and have been for quite some while (even for their own citizens trying to get back home).

Avoid January - March as that is rainy season and some places become inaccessible. Any other time is probably good. Places to visit depends on exactly what you're into. You have rainforest in the east, avenue of the baobab's and the Big Tsingy in the west. If you just want to relax on the beach, there's Nosy Be in the north. Plenty to do if you have the time.
