Not all of the cabin crew will be legally allowed to move from Ireland to work in the UK; going forward, only UK and IE passport holders would have the right to work in the UK without a visa.

Ticket sales imminent

The move comes after unions representing pilots said they had no objection to the plan.

The roll-out of transatlantic services from Manchester comes as Aer Lingus’ parent, International Airlines Group (IAG), which also owns British Airways and Iberia in Spain, last week rejigged its board to ensure its carriers continued to comply with European Union ownership and control rules following Brexit. The plans included the implementation of a national ownership structure for the Irish airline

All Aer Lingus flights are subject to the existing frequent flyer arrangements in place. These new EI operated MAN-US flights will not change any existing frequent flyer arrangements.

Manchester base will be the exact same from an AerClub point of view. It will be part of the OW JV, that has been approved recently

It will NOT codeshare with UA, so that is out.

The attractiveness of SNN is definitely lowered now that it's not that long of a drive from SNN to DUB.

Aer Lingus is not a OW Oneworld member. https://www.oneworld.com/
The AA-BA etc Joint Venture is outside of Oneworld

It's widely referred to as the "Oneworld JV" - even by the US Department of Transport. It involves not only AA and BA, but also IB, AY, and EC/LV, this latter airline also not being a oneworld member.

You're right that EI is not - and will not be - a oneworld member, but the name has stuck and is likely to stick!

How do they verify that you are actually resident in the UK? And when is the "critical" time point - at the time of booking, or the time of travel?

All IE passport holders have the right to reside in the UK, for example...

I don't think there is any requirement to be a UK resident, although it looks like the outbound flight must be from the UK on the US routes. The website currently says:-

"Flights from Manchester to the United States are for United Kingdom-originating traffic only. Sales are not available to persons in the United States".
