Why 17 August for resumption of flights to the south of France?
All flights to the south of France - Bordeaux, Perpignan, Marseille, Montpellier, Toulouse - are showing as "Sold out" until exactly 17 August, when they all start showing availability and pricing. I can't believe it's such a coincidence that they've all sold out until exactly the same date (and Expert Flyer is showing very few seats booked on those flights) and assume Aer Lingus has blocked them for the moment for some reason. If you go further north, Lyon, for example, is showing earlier availability.
Anyone know the significance of the 17 August date?

We are in the mist of the largest single global event in humanities history....
Staged return of service,
First rollout if July 1 with focus on Spain, then flights regional UK.
Around July 20 is the next batch, Munich starts for example
Aug 17 is the big return

Annoyingly EI still insist MIA will operate in early August despite being off sale...

There is no significance. As you are aware, they are re-starting their network in several tranches. South Coast French holiday destinations are not amongst the primary destinations for which demand is expected, and so therefore have been assigned a date sufficiently distant to account for that second- or third-tier status.
