Close-in J-awards?
What is the experience of EI releasing J-award seats close to flight date?
Is there possibly a decent chance as the booking class "U" is identical to upgrades?

For Gold Circle members, quite high, if you ring and ask.

For anyone else - almost definitely no.

For upgrades you go on the waitlist and I got mine 3 days out having phoned up 2 weeks from travel

For non EI, no chance, its all human in EI so if revenue dept thinks it can't sell the seat then its game on.

Saturday always seemed to be the best day for biz class availability US bound
