Me, too. Seems like we were in the same batch of mail bags..
Maybe they want to even aggravate the problem of their members not being in possession of a valid card for several weeks.. I think the way LH handle it (requalification date 12/31, expiration date 02/28) is more customer friendly and takes the pressure out of their producing the cards.
However, I didn't have problems to access LH's SEN lounges without a valid card, they didn't ask for the card (DUS, MUC, STR, holding LH BPs).

If you have an Iphone you can download the card from the App to the Wallet. Now if your card is expiring soon, you should be getting one. I had called and that that was what I was told on the phone.

I went through T2 priority security a few days ago and actually got around to asking the guy on duty why my (economy) BP's never seem to work on the automatic gates. One has to get the guard to manually scan Y boarding passes. He said it is deliberate so that they can log how many people are going though as business class and how many as purely frequent flyers (I don't see why the software can't do that automatically). I showed him my gold card but he didn't even look at it beyond the colour - certainly not the expiry date. I just happened to have it in my hand. He then just scanned my BP and let me though. I suspect he would have let me through with just a "xx*G" boarding pass and no card. I will try that next time.
Wanted to try getting through priority security with just a *G BP, but this didn't work because the security dragon was actively asking everyone to show him their FFP card. The queue was about 5 people long as everyone fumbled through their wallets - despite seeing what was hapening ahead...
I of course had my card ready, and also went straight to the manual queue rather than having my BP rejected at the auto gate
Back on topic, my new card hasn't arrived in London yet.

I just rang the call centre, and was told that my card was sent out 19.01, and to allow one month from this date. I am based in UK. I was a bit surprised at this, and I now presume this will be the case for next year as well. They should really start to treat virtual cards as on par with the plastic.

Seems the card batch to Germany is now shipped. I got my new card yesterday (in Freiburg, Germany). Came with luggage tag, and was sent from a Dutch maling address. Like for the others, expiry is 24.11.2016.
