I should be upgraded to Gold but I'm Silver.

I have all the tier miles pre Nov.24, but I am Silver, while I should be Gold.

20/11/2014 UA1529 A SFO - LAX San Francisco-Los Angeles 1,500 1,500
20/11/2014 UA1525 A PDX - SFO Portland-San Francisco 1,650 1,650
19/11/2014 UA0788 A LAX - SFO Los Angeles-San Francisco 1,500 1,500
19/11/2014 UA0551 A SFO - PDX San Francisco-Portland 1,650 1,650
17/11/2014 UA1255 K LAX - SFO Los Angeles-San Francisco 500 500
02/09/2014 AC0891 Z FCO - YYZ Rome-Toronto 8,830 8,830
02/09/2014 AC8113 Z YYZ - IAH Toronto-Houston 2,572 2,572
07/10/2012 - - - Internet Enrollment: Promo2012 2,000 2,000

My mileage accrual, which add to over 20,000. I have tracked by the site how many miles I would need before 24 Nov. to become Gold. What can I do about becoming Gold?

My guess is that the Promo 2000 miles not being in the 12 months before 24/11/14 is why you are under the 20k, but I may be wrong.

In fact, you are indeed wrong
When I was upgraded, my 1000 tier miles from June 2012 counted towards my Gold upgrade (I would have been some 400 miles short if not). OP should call A3 customer service ASAP to get the welcome tier miles reinstated and ask to be upgraded to Gold manually. I have successfully done this myself, and the agents are aware of this problem.

Actually, I think HiroshimaFlyer is correct. The normal 1k bonus was valid forever (ie it didn't expire as tier miles), and therefore should have been counted towards the 20k. IIRC, the 2k bonus had to be 'activated' by flying within a certain period, I think 12 months (and, indeed, the miles may have only been award ones). The OP's miles will therefore have expired.

Interesting objection there, NWIFlyer. If you look closely in hiima's table, the welcome miles we're indeed listed as both tier and award miles atleast, and IIRC other people have reported that their 2000 welcome miles counted towards their upgrades. I still definitely believe OP should call A3. I know I would.

I don't disagree with ringing and trying - what's the worst that can happen?

However, I do think the OP should be prepared for disappointment - whilst the 2k did count towards status, I am pretty sure a flight need to be taken within a given period - which almost certainly would be shorter than happened in the OP's case.

EDIT: This thread http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/aegea...000-miles.html covering the 2k bonus has a number of posts from reliable FT members stating that the miles (all 2k) expired after 12 months if status was no achieved, as I thought.

As the OP did not credit for well over a year after enrolment the miles would have expired in terms of status qualification. Because the OP has >16k at 24th November (s)he is correctly shown as being at new Silver level. A3 is 100% correct here.

It would seem that I stand corrected. What a welcome refreshment!!!
Anyway, maybe A3 will have pity on OP. It's not easy to be aware of all the rules and regulations airlines put their customers through at any given time.

Maybe they will ...

However, it really is up to the customer to be aware of all the nuances of the scheme they're in. IIRC, the T&C's of those 2k bonus miles were pretty clear at the time - they must have been if even I can remember!

Otherwise, what else could anyone claim - that they didn't realise UA didn't credit all fare bucket at 100% and would A3 take pity on them? I think it's unlikely the OP will be successful here.

I'm trying to call them, but I guess I need to call during Athens time, it keeps ringing forever.

From my latest conversation with Aegean, anyone whose miles posted AFTER 01JAN15 will not be upgraded retroactively to Gold, even if they had achieved the 20,000 miles requirement by 24NOV14.

I've got an account that achieved 21,311 miles by 17NOV14 (so made it to 20,000 in 2 months even excluding the internet bonus), but because a Lufthansa segment only posted after 01JAN15, the status will remain only Silver as a result.

That sounds like a HUCA. If this is really true, I'd be seriously tempted to take legal advice if it mattered enough to you.

This is extremely unpleasant news for those who will be directly affected, and also extremely unfair, as the cause of delayed posting of miles retroclaims are entirely outside individual customer control, and mainly related to A3's own (sh)IT. Are you sure this is official?

No, just an isolated data point from an agent who sounded highly confused and frustrated. But the longer it drags on without upgrading the account, the more likely I am to believe it is the truth in some form.

This is my first post.
I have a similar problem. Should be gold with miles that were credited a few days ago (flights from October) but I am still silver in the website. I just phoned Aegean and they told me they will upgrade me in the next few days.
It seems there is no problem with the upgrades after January 1st.
