Review Swissotel Singapore Merchant Court (51 Photos)

Swissotel Merchant Court

This was my 1st Swissôtel stay and was very happy with it. My favorite Accor hotel in Singapore is the Sofitel City Centre, but it was very expensive. The Novotel Clark Quay and the Swissôtel Merchant Court were at the same price and are located very close each other (on opposite side of the river), the Swissôtel having a club lounge and looked nice on the website, I decided to book the Swissôtel. This was a 2-night stay.

Check In

I booked a Premier room/king bed and was upgraded to Junior Suite (despite hotel being fully booked). Check-in was quick, was thanked for loyalty, upgrade was confirmed and drink voucher was given (can be redeemed at the lobby bar or at the pool bar). All good.

Pictures of the main lobby and lobby café/bar :

Room

Room was facing the pool area. Plenty of space + a balcony. I liked the separate desk/working area. I had a lot of work to do from my room + T-conf to do until late at night from my room so this was very convenient and also to eat room service there for dinner while attending a T-conf - not fun… :-(

The only “criticism” I could make about the room is that the desk and TV area were a little bit dark due to no window in that part of the room, but no big deal really.

Usual amenities were present : safety box, bathrobes, slippers, nespresso machine (capsules replenished every day), plenty of water bottles (replenished daily and during turndown service).

The welcome amenities and letter. Swiss chocolates were placed every evening during turndown service.

Swimming Pool

Certainly not as nice as at SSCC, but very pleasant to use. There is a Spa located where you access the pool (I didn't use the Spa but it looked nice).

Executive Lounge

Excellent service and good offering at the lounge which offers some very nice views on Marina Bay Sands. The staff was just great there and they did the extra mile taking care of printing me some documents and scanning them for me without me having to go downstairs to do it.

View from lounge:

Happy hour for evening cocktails was from 6 to 8. Very good selection of cold and warm items as you can see on pictures

I had BF there. Usual stuff was available + you can order several warm dishes, including the usual egg-based dishes.

Check-out formalities were done from the lounge.

Overall

Overall a very centrally located Accor hotel in Singapore and a very good one with top notch service. I would return without hesitation in case the SSCC gets too pricey. It’s been said before, but based on this experience, Swissôtel is really an equivalent of Pullman IMO.

Nice review and by the looks of it hotel too. Though I consider the signage on the balcony a bit OTT.

The club lounge looks really nice and very good food choice.

Unfortunately no, only a “regular” sparkling wine.

I think she's right, the Swissotel look is somewhat upmarket Ikea

Haha, yes of course you, me and most of us would prefer the Singapore Sofitel city centre hotel
from your pictures, the lounge looks nicer and airier than the lounge at the Novotel across the water (ceiling is too low). The food selection also looks better. Thanks for posting your review

Haha, I think I checked out the day after you - I spent 10 days there and it was my second visit in as many months. I do like this hotel for the location, the pool and the general size of the rooms - the price is also reasonable. I would say the only issue is the breakfast in the restaurant is a some western food and dim sum + plus standard fruits / salad. Not a lot of other cuisine and not extensive by Asia standards. I also noticed that in weekends, it just does not seem as good. However, the add-on price to include breakfast when booking is usually reasonable.

Cheers.

Good review - thank you. I'm looking for a hotel for Singapore next year and am torn between this and the Sofitel. I suspect I'll make a decision based on price though.

Considering staying here but just can't figure out the pricing. I'm a lowly Gold and would appreciate lounge access but not at these price points:
  • premier 169 SGD
  • swiss advantage 221 SGD
  • swiss executive 368 SGD!!!
All of the above room categories are listed at 38m2 so surely the lounge isn't worth 200 SGD / nt for 1 pax?

It's not unheard of that there's a significant price jump between the highest room category without lounge access and the lowest room category with lounge access.

But rates at that property seem funny at times. I recently booked a stay there and the A+ rates were well above the general Accor member rates (flex vs. flex and non-flex vs. non-flex). And a package rate was even cheaper.

reporting back - I called the property and was told to book Swiss Advantage. I was then further given a corner room. ^
