Accor signs three new UK franchise hotels
French-based hotel giant Accor has signed three new franchised properties under its Mercure and Ibis Styles brands.
The new Mercure hotels of Bredbury Hall in Stockport and Dumfries will take the number of UK properties under the brand up to 88. Globally, there are 900 Mercure hotels across 61 countries.
Set to open at the end of 2021, the 125-bedroom Ibis Styles Romford will operate in partnership with Romford South.

Yup, most of Cayman's pipeline is MOXY and HIExpress, the ibises in secondary locations in Belgium have already been open for years and are part of their current portfolio. BTW, Accor has dropped the ball massively here, most of those could have been Ibis Styles, Mercures, Tribes or such, Marriott and IHG must have given them a sweet deal.

Greet Hotel Darmstadt
Accor has opened the sixth property under its Greet brand, and the first in Germany.
Greet Hotel Darmstadt is located around a 20-minute drive from Frankfurt airport, and features 194 rooms across four categories (135 of which have been “extensively renovated”), as well as a fitness centre and 1,000 sqm lobby with games lounge, bar and restaurant.

It's actually been opened and bookable as "greet" for a few months now. Not sure what the deal with the brand is, seems like it's a way to make common rooms seem hip on the cheap like at MAMAs and 25hs, but without making guestrooms all funky. Not quite sure why this exists alongside Ibis Styles, perhaps the franchise fee is lower given that the points earning rate is abysmal...

Sofitel Ambassador Seoul
Away from luxury-hotel-heavy Gangnam in southern Seoul or office-heavy Gwanghwamun in central Seoul and Yeouido in western Seoul, the Sofitel Ambassador Seoul opened on Thursday in Songpa, which is home to two five-star hotels run under Lotte, Signiel Seoul and Lotte Hotel World. The brand run by hospitality group Accor which has been operating its brands in tandem with local hotel group Ambassador.

I‘ve already stayed in this hotel, even though I’ve never been to Japan 😀 In fact, the photo shows the lobby of the Ibis Styles Palermo President.

Now it's official! Received newsletter about the opening of two ibis Styles in both Tokyo and Kyoto! Telling from the address, both hotels are rebranded from the Japanese chain Hotel Unizo.
