The quote above pretty much states that the 18 month expiration is not for account inactivity but that points expire 18 months after being EARNED. That is going to make this a loyalty program only for their most frequent customers, which may be their intent. But it won't work for me, as even an expanded VX has too limited a route structure to be my regular domestic carrier.
