I have also met some that at the beginning seemed a bit 'quiet', giving the wrong impression that they didn't want to 'talk'. Then I found out that they were actually shy and didn't know how to start or join in a conversation. Once they've opened up, they're just as chatty as anyone else.

Don't let that bother or deter you from going to DOs. Most all of us are friendly and we love our fellow FTers. I have made more pals here than I can count, and a few have even become bestest personal friends forever. On my part, at least.
