Let's face it: This phone doesn't do anything new. It will not succeed just because it works; if it succeeds, it will be because Apple (in their typical fashion) has made it work exceedingly well. Can't wait to get my hands on one and see if Apple has done something clearly better than the rest.
Techie details -- it does web browsing without having to find a wireless network (which is better, anyway). And who cares about it running MAC OS X? What does that do for a typical user. It's about applications, not what's under the hood.
