I had considered that option, however, it substantially reduces LP earnings on AA, and yes, the added segment would have collapsed the rest of the trip structure.

Thanks. I'll toss that one into the mix next time. I did check ORD and BOS on JL, and also considered using NRT originating flights. They showed even worse availability than JFK on my dates.
