I wonder if Barclays has Wednesday maintenance too.




Having unfrozen my reports on the three major credit bureaus Wednesday specifying the thaw end date for the day after, I tried to apply online, but ran into the above at the end of the process.

The funny story is that Barclays often pulls Transunion, who, unlike Equifax and Experian, ends the temporary lift of a freeze at the beginning of a day rather at the end of it, so when I applied the morning after, the Transunion credit check was blocked with Barclays moving onto Experian.

I don’t know whether Transunion is a trusted partner of Barclays relying on Transunion for identity verification. Barclays told me the agency used wouldn’t have made a difference in terms of the need for ID documents from me.

Lots of captivating Barclays reading material on FT by the way. I’m beginning to wonder why the company doesn’t have a mechanism in place for having applicants upload documents online.

Is it normal for Barclay to ask for copies of social security, driver licence & bank?
